This poem was written after spending time with Mike learning and exploring each other and the love we share. I never realized how much he truly was a part of me until we had to say goodbye. It was only for a little while, but that didn't make the pain of our time apart any less.
We have been in this long distance relationship since October of 1997, and we have had a chance to spend a lot of magical time together. However, each time we have to say goodbye, it breaks my heart in two. Even though I know we'll be together soon, I can't help but feel completely lost without him. Each time I watch him walk away from me to board the plane, my heart shatters into a million pieces and I realize I will never be whole or complete until we meet again.

After meeting the love of my life on the internet and corresponding with him for months via email, as well as spending hours on the phone learning more about each other, we finally had the opportunity to meet and spend some quality time together.
Before we met we pledged our love to each other, but it was confirmed the first time we looked into each other's eyes. This poem was written after the first time he and I were together in person. I'll never forget the magic that happened between us ... two hearts bound together by the most perfect love!

I wrote this poem in high school when our English teacher asked us to write a poem that didn't necessarily have to rhyme. She just wanted us to write something with emotion and feeling in it; Since I had just experienced a broken heart, it was easy to put my emotions into it.
And the result? I still had a broken heart, but I got an A+ from my English teacher.
