How many times have you stood at the threshold of a new door, contemplating what you would find on the other side? How many times has fear stopped you from proceeding?

If you never cross through, you will be left wondering "what if" for the rest of your life. Take the chance, what have you got to lose?

We all have our dreams that we strive to achieve. Most of us set our sights so high that they may seem impossible to reach... But we should never let others tell us it can't be done -- keep reaching, continue trying... never stop flying...

We as humans have a tendency to feel that we need another person to make us whole so we search and search for our "other half" and in the process, are hurt countless times by those we thought might have been our soulmates.

This poem tries to express this feeling of hopelessness that we feel when we're alone, and the misery we feel when a potential life-partner goes sour. What I am trying to say with this poem is that we cannot be happy with others until we are happy with ourselves. A second person does not fill the void and complete our song, rather, the second person adds harmony to our already beautiful melody.

This poem was written about my life. School is not the best place to be. Anyone who has ever had rumors going around about them can understand this poem. You can't do anything without the whole dang town knowing what you are doing. You just have to think of it as yourself in this place.

I wrote this to express the feelings of my young son. He couldn’t say how he was feeling, so I did it for him. I hope in the years to come, that he won't have to say the "never mind".

Thanks for listening to this one. It was even hard to type it.

Miranda is a once popular woman who never thought she'd be alone but now sadly is. She spends her Sundays at a local poolside hangout vicariously living the lives of those around her but not happy in her pretense. I met her one Sunday.

Dennis had been my friend for many years and now he had cancer and was dying. His chemotherapy was predictably causing hair loss. He was concerned about this and called me from his home in central Florida and asked me to get him an FSU cap. He also asked that I not make too much of his illness to his friends in Tallahassee. Tallahassee has two state universities, Florida State (the Seminoles) and Florida A&M (The
Rattlers). I sent him a cap and this poem.

ed. note...Jean Luc Picard and Wayne Dickey have fine bald heads, as does the author. Dennis wore the hat for several months before he passed away.

This was written as a sort of tribute to the old cops; the ones who never made detective or moved up the ranks. The cops who find themselves answering calls that maybe they shouldn't be answering anymore. But the pension is still a few years away . . .

A little observation on life caused me to write this poem. After the break up of a friendship or a relationship, there is always a period of bitterness. This is an appeal to the people who feel that bitterness to look again, with no false ideals, and to put history as history.

I personally wrote this for a friend of mine who was looking at me in this way, but didn't have the confidence to send it. Maybe by publishing it, it will be sent by others and will save and improve a few relationships.

This poem is for women everywhere who have gone through the big change of life at thirty, and realizing that life has not passed them by, and knowing what the priorities are. Being able to live a better quality of life and being able to have fun while doing so. This poem is dedicated to women that go through changes in their life, most especially in their thirties. It is for the women who have survived with dignity and some sanity.
