I wrote this poem for two friends I've never met, who at the time had not met each other either. And still, they loved. I've met many others since then who fell in love on the Internet, but these two were the first for me. Two people in love. Two people who had never seen each other's face.

They were separated by a real-world ocean, but brought together by a cyber sea.

Ron mentioned ICQ in Digital Passions. I have been using the program for some time and made friends I will probably never meet. Including a very special one called Mindy.

"Love makes the world go 'round" - I've heard that before. I think, perhaps, that there's a significantly growing sector of the cybersphere where the motto really should be amended to say, "Love makes the NET go 'round." Don't ya think?

My obsession for sunshine somehow seems to surface in most of my poetry. This SonNet is no exception. The sun even seems to have found a way to brighten every "online" day. Spending considerable time online recently has given me a new insight into the potential depth of relationships begotten "OnNet". Perhaps "Sunshine" and "Love" are synonymous? I do seem to have found the "inspiration" I need to do some extensive writing lately. I'm not sure why, but this SonNet just seemed to write itself........

To understand this poem, it is necessary to realize that I was in a relationship with someone via the internet, as she lived on the opposite side of the Atlantic Ocean. This didn't lessen our love for each other, if anything it strengthened it, but it does upset me occasionally, that I am not able to show her how much I love her. Words are indeed useless where love is concerned.

This is the first poem I wrote after meeting, and falling in love with, a girl I met over the internet. Unorthodox maybe, but our love is very real, and the separation between us hits me hard at times. This means that many of my poems are sad, but there is generally a note of optimism, as her love is so incredible it takes my breath away.

You meet many people online. Some touch you down to your soul. Some inspire you to grow. Others stomp you down. This one sent me a poem from your site, and inspired me to try my hand at a poem of 'gratitude' to him. So in his honor, I submit this poem.

He came to me when I needed him most, my guardian angel. He rode upon a horse called honor and gave to me all he had inside. This man took me inside his soul and cared for me. Made me whole once more. Shared with me his experiences and guided me to the light. And when our journey is complete, lovers also, I pray we will be.

This poem I wrote not long ago, when I met a good friend over the internet. He is always there to listen to me whine and calm me down For this I will be forever grateful.
