I'm from the Netherlands and what has happened yesterday in America felt like it was happening in my own backyard. This day evil succeeded in it's goal, but in the end it will not win the battle.
I wish i can do something more constructive other than pen hollow words. My words are sincere and well-meaning, yet they must seem inadequate and insignificant to those who are still trying to fathom the grave consequences of this madness.
For the Americans: I wish them well.

September 11th, 2001 was a shocking day of sadness for the entire world, not just the United States of America, who is the epitome of freedom! In Vancouver, as in other places in Canada, a candle vigil is ongoing to send our love and healing energy to those Americans and foreign visitors that so senselessly lost lives or were injured through horrific, cowardly terrorist attacks. We hope that it will send our message of love and healing to those family members who are grieving, and also to those yet to grieve in the countries of the perpetrators, and those that harbor them.
Let us remember these people who died and through this, grow stronger as a world, by joining hands as one, and lighting a candle of hope.

I cannot imagine how devasted those who lost loved ones in this tragedy must feel, but as an American, I feel we all lost something very dear to all of us on 9-11-01. Now we have the opporunity to gain it back by standing together forever - not just through this tragedy, but for all of time as a free nation.
Hopefully this poem will help us to heal and become stronger - together.

As a volunteer firefighter in my own community I was deeply shocked at how many Firefighters were missing. I dedicate this poem for the firefighters who have participated in the World Trade Center Disaster and I give great sympathy to all who have lost their life.
Publicized around the world, we all watched in horror. The ones that did this may have felt glorified. They may have even gloated. I am proud to say that what I saw rising out of the rubble was far more than anyone expected.
This poem describes what I also saw, aside from the horrific. What I hope they also see coming.

It's difficult to find the words to describe what we, as a country, are feeling right now. The anger, the sadness, the confusion, and the fear are so jumbled up. We must comfort one another and find the strength and courage to go on.
We MUST let our voices be heard!
We MUST let our voices be heard!
Faith, prayer, and the strength of one another in friendship. These are the things that will get us through this difficult ordeal. May God bless all of us, and God bless America!
