When I think I cannot go on,
And am ready to give up,
I can dream up a reason to keep going,
Because you will love me for it.
When I cannot fall asleep,
And am oh, so dreary,
I imagine dreaming of you that night,
Because you will love me for it.
When the clock continues ticking,
And we are down by eleven,
I daydream of how you'll smile on my comeback,
Because you will love me for it.
When I think of that kiss,
The tears begin to flow.
I think of how you held me close to you,
And how I loved you for it.

I wrote this poem one night when I was crying over an ex-boyfriend of mine. He was my first love and I still, to this day, love him with all of my heart. He was perfect until we got in a fight. He hurt me so bad with some of the things he said, I cried nightly. I would find myself daydreaming of things I could do to win back his affection.
