Eric by Ali
It was a cold, windy October day,
when you died and left my world so gray.
I can still remember your last screams
and the glistening tears falling from your eyes.
I told you not to ride in the street,
but you never thought it was your end you would meet.
We saw the truck, but it was too late,
I shut my eyes to block out your fate.
I heard a thud, and then your scream,
and I prayed to God it was only a dream.
A few days later, you were put in the ground,
and I became quiet, never making a sound.
Sometimes I can't believe you're really gone,
you always swore you'd never leave me alone.
When I see all them other girls with their guys,
I feel the warm tears slide from my eyes.
If you were here, I know what I'd do,
I'd stay by your side and always be true.
I wish I could have you 'til the end of time,
but even though you're gone, you'll be forever mine.
when you died and left my world so gray.
I wrote this poem when I was 11, for my best friend, Eric, who was killed by a log truck when we were both 10 years old. Even though he's gone, he still lives in my heart and my mind. I know I'll see him again someday, so I just have to keep living my life to the fullest.
| This really touched my heart. When I was 10 years old my brother Eric, who was my best friend died in a truck accident. - Krista | |
| The first time i saw your poem my friend and i were talking about my crush, Eric. So we both thought it was a coincidence but after reading your poem me and my friend relized it was just what we needed. You see, we were doing a project on the word somber, and we needed a paragraph or some sort of writing that displayed the meaning of the word and your poem, along with three others, worked perfectly for the job. After reading your poem, the whole class sat silent in shock. Your poem was so moving! I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Not many people have felt that kind of loss before. I also love to write, not poems but storys and I know that the best way to display feeling is through words. I think you could go very far with your writing. Keep going! - Sara | |
