The thunder rumbles thru the night
sounds like the beating of my heart
I don't like being here without you
I feel so alone when we're apart
Lightning flashes and lights the room
memories flashing through my mind
of warmth and love I feel for you
and love we'll never leave behind
The gentle rain is tapping on my window
as I am safe and nestled in your embrace
for storms never last when you're near
this special bond you can't replace

This poem I wrote for my husband. We have been married 34 years. He is my soulmate and I feel safe and secure when I am with him. We have been through many storms, but they never last when I am with him.
