Looming by Samantha Goff
Looming in the air is the hint of your cologne.
Tempting, teasing and tickling the essence of me,
Breaking down the doors that you closed when
You walked out.
I feel it hang in the air like the uneasy comfort of your arms.
I taste it on my lips like the frail sincere spring wind.
I hear only the agonizing silence of my wounded heart healing.
I see so clearly that, in the rear view mirror.
I smell you.
Looming in the air is the hint of your cologne,
And what used to be.

On the eve of my innocence's demise, my mind was filled with thoughts of love, like picking baby names and china patterns. Not for a moment did I expect the love of my life was consumed by thoughts of doubt and regret, picking his words of goodbye. For some reason, even though I had no idea what was about to happen to me, this poem flowed from my mind. Here you go.
