Shattered - Farewell by Jennifer L.
You let me down when I needed you most,
Your razor tongue slashed my soul.
You chose to attack when my defenses were down,
God, how could you be so cold?
You'll never know the pain you caused
Or the grief and loss I feel.
I've wondered over the days and weeks if my broken heart will heal.
Our memories are tempered with bitterness,
But now I'll close the door.
I'll mourn his death a thousand times
But I do not mourn yours.
Your razor tongue slashed my soul.
You chose to attack when my defenses were down,
God, how could you be so cold?
You'll never know the pain you caused
Or the grief and loss I feel.
I've wondered over the days and weeks if my broken heart will heal.
Our memories are tempered with bitterness,
But now I'll close the door.
I'll mourn his death a thousand times
But I do not mourn yours.
This is the last in a series of three poems written shortly after the loss of my two closest friends - one in a deadly twist of fate and the other by a cruel betrayal. This poem was written to the friend who betrayed me when I was mourning my loss.
| Broken hearts often leave people shattered, but one needs to carry on, one needs to forget the past and move on. I liked this poem because it erases the memory of the person who has broken the heart. - Monica | |
| I liked the poem I was looking for one that I could send a friend that is no longer my friend but it was not suitable for that but it was good - Deanna | |
| YOUR POEM WENT STRAIGHT TO MY SOUL. I'VE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH MYSELF LATELY AS TO HOW TO PUT MY FEELING INTO WORDS AND THIS POEM JUST DID IT! THANK YOU. - VICKI |
