Job Fare by Alastair Adamson
When I was young I thought
Of so many things I would be
And so practiced a lot of things
To make a man of me
Every action or decision I made
Sparked an action in alternate plane
Traveling down the Trousers of Time
They were to me close, but not the same
Soldier, poet, musician, policeman
Fireman, carpenter, gardener, chef
Short attention filled every job
Even squirrel- feeder with palatial clef
These other me's took every job
Leaving me vexed and annoyed
Maybe now you'll understand
Why I'm unemployed
Of so many things I would be
And so practiced a lot of things
To make a man of me
Every action or decision I made
Sparked an action in alternate plane
Traveling down the Trousers of Time
They were to me close, but not the same
Soldier, poet, musician, policeman
Fireman, carpenter, gardener, chef
Short attention filled every job
Even squirrel- feeder with palatial clef
These other me's took every job
Leaving me vexed and annoyed
Maybe now you'll understand
Why I'm unemployed
We all like to rationalize away our problems, or the reasons we do things we know we ought not. Plus, this one might help remove the sting of unemployment.
