Your Angel To Kiss by Angela K. Dyson
You kneel by your bed day after day,
fold your hands and repeatedly pray
with heartfelt words, that a miracle be done,
and soon you might meet the blessed one
In your bedroom, you solemnly swear
that when she arrives, for her you will care,
You will cherish and love her, in sickness or health,
and her love in return would prove enough wealth
Like the universe has at its center the sun,
so will she be after her heart you've won:
The center of your life, and bright like a star,
she'll indeed be an angel come down from afar
For years now I've heard you recite this promise,
if you could just have your angel to kiss
Just lift your bowed head, or you'll never know,
that set atop my hair glows a shimmering halo
fold your hands and repeatedly pray
with heartfelt words, that a miracle be done,
and soon you might meet the blessed one
In your bedroom, you solemnly swear
that when she arrives, for her you will care,
You will cherish and love her, in sickness or health,
and her love in return would prove enough wealth
Like the universe has at its center the sun,
so will she be after her heart you've won:
The center of your life, and bright like a star,
she'll indeed be an angel come down from afar
For years now I've heard you recite this promise,
if you could just have your angel to kiss
Just lift your bowed head, or you'll never know,
that set atop my hair glows a shimmering halo
Sometimes, people want something so badly and search for it so hard, that they don't see what's right in front of them
