Reassure Me by Malcolm Coleman
Hidden away
at the back of my mind
is that perilous thought,
"Will she leave me behind?
Will she go her own way,
leaving me here?"
Well I'm in some distress
'Cause this is what I fear.
All it would take
to calm my agitation
is a few simple words
every so often,
reassuring me that
I should not be afraid
and that she will not leave me,
this is all that I crave.
If I seem paranoid,
and you laugh at these words,
(Or may be this is
the worst thing that you've heard?)
then I'm sorry I doubted
but I need to be sure.
I suppose that I must be
somewhat insecure?

Have you ever wished that someone would say specific words to you for whatever reason? I have, and this poem was the result of my anxiety.
